A Little Poem for you all today.. The Ice City

This afternoon, as I was looking through old papers and junk in my bookcase, a little sheet of lined paper fell down. On this piece of paper, I found an old poem I wrote a few years back, when I was in Year 6, based on a magic wintery city.. the complete opposite of this lovely sun we're getting now in June - but hey I had a lot of imagination for an 11 year old...

The Ice City

As I step off the silver ship,
I forget that I am bitterly cold,
I look around the serene city.

I see pale children, calling and laughing,
Bells ringing from the finely carved ice tower.
Fresh snow, scattered all over the cobbled streets,
Flowers dancing to singing.

Twinkling stars in the night sky, smiling,
The silver moon, sparkling, like a diamond in the sky.

Strange trees, with icy leaves,
The Iridescent snow, covering the city like icing,
With icicles like melting sugar lumps.

Leaves, whispering to the ground,
Branches suffocated by hail.

The lake is frozen, with a light cover of frost,
so light - I can't touch it.

Smoke poofing out of white washed houses,
as wintery magic brings snowmen to life.

I take in the fresh night air around me,
and stare out into the shimmering city.

A tiny faraway landscape,
White and shining.

I hope you enjoyed that magical, mysterious, snowy scene!

Look out for some new Blog Posts comming soon!

I'll keep you posted! :)
